Rogue Guard

An old warrior leaning on his sword, inspired by a piece of concept art whose author I never found: a quick fantasy project, sculpted in Nomad Sculpt to try out the beta features.

Rogue Guard is an old warrior in armour, standing with his hands crossed on the hilt of the sword planted in front of him, the scabbard on his back and a pouch on his belt.

The idea

It’s a piece I had wanted to make for a long time, inspired by a piece of concept art whose author I’ve never managed to identify. The old warrior look has always been one of my favourites, and this is a fantasy project that was quick and fun to make.

The sculpt

Rogue Guard was sculpted in Nomad Sculpt, and it was mainly a way for me to try out the new beta features, like the dynamic stamps and the new Elastic and Deform brushes.

The first version in Nomad: the warrior with crossed hands, still without a sword and with plain pauldrons

In the first version there was no sword yet and the pauldrons were plain; the first sword was broad and squared off, with a knot engraved on the blade, then it was replaced by a longer, slimmer one with a flower on the crossguard, and the pauldrons got the round emblems and the battle marks.

Printing

Rogue Guard was printed in two sizes on my usual Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra with Elegoo Standard 8K Space Grey resin, 0.03 mm layer height, slicing in Lychee. The model was split into parts: head, torso, arms, gauntlets, legs, boots, pauldrons, scabbard, sword and base.

I don’t think I’ll paint it, but I printed a few copies for modeller friends who want to paint it.
